Surveys published by various organizations have a time lag and can quickly become outdated. O’Brien County tops the market with a sale at $19,000/acre. Auction volume picks up in September with over 10,000 acres going to auction. Harvest will begin soon. Happy Labor Day!

Linn County takes top honors with a sale at $19,225/acre. Lots of heat in the forecast but this should not hurt yields. Say hi if you see me walking around at the Farm Progress Show Tuesday!

Chickasaw County takes top honors with a sale at $22,500/acre. Poweshiek County gets honorable mention with a sale at $19,000/acre. There were several strong sales this week.

Polk County tops the market this week with a sale at $38,000/acre. These tracts were transitioning from ag land to development on the fringe of Ankeny, which is part of the Des Moines metro.

Mills County tops the market with a sale at $13,500/acre. There were three “no sales.” Market conditions are adjusting to current economic conditions.

Topping the market this week is Jefferson County with a sale at $15,100/acre. Corn Prices did not have a good week. Grain traders are expecting high yields this fall, increasing the supply.

Mitchell County tops the market with a sale at $15,750/acre. Lots of heat in the forecast at the beginning of week and milder temps later. Crop is looking good.

Sac County takes top honors this week with a sale at $20,000/acre. Please keep the people in northern Iowa in your prayers. They have had some extreme rain events the past several days and there are a lot of land and houses underwater.

Dallas County tops the market at $24,300/acre. June will be active for land auctions. Market conditions seem to be steady to trending lower.

O’Brien County tops the market with a sale bringing in $15,800/acre. Market conditions are cooling. The 2024 planting season is wrapping up.

May ends with not enough auction activity to test the market. We must get the 2024 planting finished up. I think a few good days of sunny weather is all we need.

There were two “no sales” this week indicating the market is still adjusting to current economic conditions. I am worried there could be a lot of re-plant this year with all the cool, wet weather. I am hearing there will be some preventive plant.

Not much is happening right now with land auctions, but things do pick up a little in June. Wishing the rain would slow a bit to get this crop planted then come back in July and August.
